  14. Check with USR.  I'm not sure of the chip revision number but there
  15. was a FREE replacement chip to callers mentioning the "Spiraling
  16. Syndrome of Death".  This chip fixed that problem for me, also
  17. allowing more frequent 26.4 connections.  In addition to a fix, this
  18. chip adds a feature!  When to modems start slowing down to correct
  19. errors because of bad conditions now they can also speed up if
  20. conditions are favorable while connected!!!!
